 This is a popular hunting destination due to the healthy population of elk and the vast and pristine areas in which to hunt. Access to the National Forest is simple, though the terrain is steep and difficult, with lush meadows scattered all around--perfect for wildlife. We are located in Hunting Unit 77, with access to Units 78, 771, and 751. Big Game Season Dates are listed below. Tags are also available for birds (turkey, grouse, pheasant), Mountain Lions, Bears, Bighorn Sheep, and Moose. All mule deer tags are by draw only. | Crazy Horse Outfitters & Guides, operating out of our campground, specializes in guided hunts and full-service hunts in the Wilderness. They also offer pack-out services should you get an animal. There are several meat-processing services in Pagosa Springs to properly process any game. We recommend The Buck Stops Here, located in Aspen Springs, a 5 minute drive from Pagosa. |

- Archery: Deer/Elk, West of I-25 (and unit 140). August 25 - September 23
- Muzzleloader: All deer/elk licenses are by draw only. September 8-16
- Rifle Combined Deer/Elk & Separate Limited Elk:
- 1st Rifle Season, Draw only. Totally limited. October 13-17
- 2nd Season: Over-the-counter bull tags available. October 20-28
- 3rd Season: Over-the-counter bull tags available. November 3-11
- 4th Season: Draw only. Totally limited. November 14-18
